Maria
I grew up on the island of Guam, surrounded by diversity of people and culture. Books, National Geographic, and public television opened up worlds of wonder and sparked an interest to learn more about the world and people beyond the horizon.
I am a life-long learner, an avid reader, and an advocate for literacy and education. I started my journey into early childhood education and care while working with an after-school program with the Bellevue School District for the past four years. Inspired by the Reggio Emilio Approach, I recently joined the Hilltop Children’s Center community of children, families, and educators. I have a B.S. in computer science and mathematics from Seattle University, and a master’s degree in library and information science from the iSchool at the University of Washington. I am completing my Early Childhood Education State Certificate from Bellevue College this year. I worked with preschoolers in an inclusive classroom.
I enjoy spending time with family, cooking and eating good food, and watching documentaries and foreign films. This year I started painting with watercolors and nature journaling.
