One to Two-Years-Old Pod

Welcome to our one to two-year-old pod, where children aged 12 to 24 months embark on a journey of discovery and independence. In the world of one-year-olds, positive role models play a vital role in shaping early experiences. We understand that children often mirror the play and behaviors of those around them, and as they enthusiastically assert their independence with the declaration of “me do it,” our educators stand as patient and energetic guides.

In each of our three classrooms, two primary educators are supported by two dedicated support educators and a mentor educator, all working together to create a nurturing and engaging environment. Our educators have a keen eye for teachable moments, stimulating each toddler’s natural curiosity through engaging conversations and meaningful interactions. They play a pivotal role in fostering appropriate emotional and social behaviors, exemplifying kindness, and instilling a sense of responsibility.

Our approach recognizes the importance of children taking on small responsibilities, such as helping tidy up toys or passing out snacks. These activities lay the groundwork for personal responsibility and cultivate a positive self-image. Our educators are not just caregivers; they are role models, influencers, and champions of each child’s journey towards becoming a confident and capable individual.

The one to two-year-old pod is designed with the philosophy that the environment is the ‘third teacher.’ We create richly resourced, aesthetically pleasing spaces that are flexible and dynamic, stimulating children’s engagement, imagination, and exploration. Our environment encourages children to explore, experiment, and discover, fostering a lifelong love of learning.

At Hilltop Children’s Center, we believe that exploration and play are essential for young children as they search for meaning in life. In the one to two-year-old pod, we are dedicated to nurturing the inquisitive minds of our young learners, supporting their journey towards independence and confidence with care and enthusiasm.
