Hilltop Children’s Center will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day. Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States, marking the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce and enforce the end of slavery—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. We honor this day by recognizing the historical significance of Black liberation, reflecting on our nation’s continued struggle for racial equity, and reaffirming our commitment to justice and inclusion within our community. We encourage families to take this opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate the rich contributions of Black communities throughout history.
