Darline
My Name is Darline Guerrero. I have worked in education for over 28 years, starting as a toddler teacher during my studies in Early Childhood Education at the local community college in Azusa, CA. I have since earned a undergrad degree in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Education Administration, a graduate degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on School/Family/Community Partnerships, and I am in the process of completing my post graduate doctorate in Early Childhood Education and Higher Education.
It is my personal philosophy that a quality educator never sits back and accepts that there is no more room for growth and development. No matter how wonderful the program is, or how well trained the educator, there is always more that can be done. A quality educator constantly evaluates their classroom, the needs of the faculty, the growth of the children, the desires of the community, and their own personal experiences. I believe self reflection and feedback are crucial because they point to exactly what needs to be improved or supported. A quality educator is also never finished learning about their work. Every day we learn through experience, but it is also our responsibility to stay current on issues relating to early childhood education and development. Similar to the quality experiences provided to the children, our professional development should be interactive with relevant content. Adult learning opportunities provide informative and engaging experiences for fellow colleagues and educators in the early childhood field.
This is why, I am honored and humbled to be the Executive Director of Hilltop Children’s Center and Educator Institute. This amazing organization allows me the opportunity to lead the efforts both within direct service with children and families in our centers and with ECE educators across the globe through the institute. I am confident with trusting relationships we can foster a community that achieves great success.
