Overview:

This daylong professional growth workshop is all about socioeconomic status and class identity, culture and diversity: what they are; why they matter in teaching, learning and students overall experiences at their school; and how educators can advance equity and inclusion in our learning communities. Participants will practice having vital conversations about SES and class matters in education and will walk away with more try tomorrow (Pollock, 2008) language, tools and frameworks to name and explore with students.

About the Presenter

Alison Park is the founder of Blink Consulting, an educational consultancy that is critically rethinking diversity. Since 2005, Blink has collaborated with over 100 schools, as well as various community-based, government and for-profit organizations to help create communities where all children, youth and adults can thrive.

This event is FREE for all of City of Seattle DEEL staff and DEEL's early learning partners in the Seattle Preschool Program (SPP), the SPP Pathway Program, and the Step Ahead Program!
